Building a multicasting tree in a high-speed network

چکیده
In this paper, we propose three strategies for building a multicasting tree in a high-speed network. These strategies can be used in any network topology. The rst one is based on voting, the second based on constructing a minimum spanning tree, and the third based on repeatedly constructing multiple minimum spanning trees. To demonstrate the eeectiveness of these strategies, we show how to apply them to hypercubes, star graphs, and star graphs with some faults. Experimental results are reported to evaluate the performance of these solutions.

Efficient and Scalable Multicasting over Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
Group communications are important in Mobile ad hoc Networks (MANET).A mobile ad hoc network (MANET), is a dynamic selfconfigurable wireless network, which has no fixed infrastructure or central administration. Multicast is an efficient method for implementing group communications. By the development of new network technologies, multicasting has become one of the important networking services. ...
متن کاملMobile multicasting in wireless ATM networks
Multicasting is a desired function in both wired and wireless networks. Currently, multicasting-based applications have pervasive presence and influence in our Internet. Wireless ATM aims to support different traffic types over a high speed wireless network. In particular, traditional approaches towards multicasting in wired networks cannot be directly applied to mobile ATM networks. This inclu...
متن کاملA New Multicast Queuing Mechanism for High-Speed Packet Switches
Increasing multimedia applications such as teleconferencing and video-on-demand require the Internet to effectively provide high-performance multicast support. One of the promising solutions for multicasting is called end-system multicasting, in which the multicasting is conducted either at the end systems or at a dedicated Multicast Service Node (MSN). A MSN is responsible for a number of end ...
متن کاملAn Overlay Tree Building Control Protocol
TBCP is a generic Tree Building Control Protocol designed to build overlay spanning trees among participants of a multicast session, without any specific help from the network routers. TBCP therefore falls into the general category of protocols and mechanisms often referred to as Application-Level Multicasting. TBCP is an efficient, distributed protocol that operates with partial knowledge of t...
متن کاملA new protocol for route discovery in multiple-ring networks. II. Multicast, recovery and high-speed processing
A new MAC protocol for route discovery in multiple-ring network, called the ERD-protocol, has been presented in Part I. The present paper introduces some extensions of this protocol. The first extension indicates how the ERD-protocol can support multicast source routing, where a station seeks routes to multiple destinations. The ERD-protocol supplies the source with a description of a collectio...
